The Associate Professor, clinical dietitian, and psychologist, Dr. Emilia Vasilopoulou (PhD, RD), born in Athens, graduated from the Department of Dietetics-Nutrition of Harokopio University in 2000 and obtained her Psychology degree in 2016 from Neapolis University (Cyprus).

She completed her PhD in Allergology at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, during which she worked in major research centers in England (Institute of Food Research, IFR) and the Netherlands (Sanquin), with scholarships from the European Union and the Ministry of Education of Greece.

She worked as a postdoctoral fellow from 2005 to 2010 and took over the organization of the nutrition team within the Allergiology Department of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, with intensive research and clinical work in the Medical School of Athens in collaboration with European Research Centers.

She is the first dietitian in Greece and Cyprus with specialization in dietary counseling for patients with food allergy. She has taught “Nutrition” and “Management of Nutrition Units” at Harokopio University and “Food Allergy” and “Allergen Characterization” at the Medical School of Athens.She completed her Master Practitioner training in Nutritional Disorders and Obesity (KEAAD, 2009) and has been a member of the KEAAD training team ever since. From 2011 to 2018, she worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Nicosia.In 2018, she was elected as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition of the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics at the International University of Greece (DIPAE) in Thessaloniki, where she works to this day.

With her degree in Psychology, she approaches nutritional problems from two perspectives, the nutritional and psychological, which helps in the successful approach for the smooth acceptance of any nutritional changes. Since 2009, she has been constantly retraining in anti-aging therapies from reputable recognized centers with the aim of anti-aging (antioxidant) care of the organism with natural therapies. Her main specialization is nutritional education and psychological therapy in individuals with food allergies, intolerances, nutritional disorders (including obesity) and nutritional education focused on psychosomatic health, especially in children and adolescents. She has published 2 books as the sole author with METAIXMIO/KEAAD publications: “Food challenges in the diagnosis of food allergy” and “Mediterranean delicacies without milk, egg, wheat (gluten) and nuts”.

She was responsible for the translation of the book “Nutritional Education” published by Broken Hills. She contributed a chapter to the book “Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics” published by Broken Hill.

 She has a plethora of research publications in scientific journals, while also writing articles for websites, magazines and newspapers.In addition, she has participated in television segments on Greek television channels (ANT1, ALPHA TV, RIK) providing nutritional advice and in some cases, with her own permanent column. She is a member of the Hellenic Dietetic Association (HDA), the Panhellenic Association of Dietitians (PAD), the Cyprus Dietitians Association (CDA), the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the Allied Health Group EAACI and the Editorial Board of EAACI Guidelines. She has also served as a member of the registration board of Dietitians and Technologists in Cyprus.
